For these Paintings, I use the technical expertise of Geologists findings combined with my artistic expertise in creating vibrant interpretations of sections from core-sample slabs, microscopic thin sections, and possibly seismic information from various layers of the earth, presenting a unique and customized work of art!

'ALABAMA SMACKOVER'

The newest in my'Custom Well Core Portrait' project, this painting is based on an ultra-violet photograph of a core sample slab from an Alabama Smackover oil well from the Jurrasic time period named 'STRAGO #1B BYRD, 13,974 ft.' The yellows in this image depict florescent oils and the blues depict florescent gases. The dark areas are based on the actual fracture lines in the slab. This particular slab was photographed around 2-3 weeks out of the ground.

Actual ultraviolet photo from core depth 13.974 ft.
